On January 22, 2016 the Far & Wide office on Galiano Island was plugged into our new wifi network!
Our Beacon Wireless installer arrived bright and early; checked the signal from the roof and his inbox instantly flooded with email. After feeding the ethernet cable down our services conduit and making a few connections we had our router beaming wifi connectivity to any location we wanted to work from.
We were amazed to find that our connectivity there is better than our ISP in Vancouver can provide. We have 25 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload. So this means that we’re no longer hot-spotting through our iPhones or tethered to our desks in Vancouver. Working Far & Wide is really coming together. Nice.
The counter-point of being connected to everywhere from a location with Steller Sea Lions and Orcas swimming past your doorstep is truly amazing — and exactly what we had our sights set on.
